Chinese cell phone manufacturers have just come out with iPhone inspired cell phones on which you can either watch live TV or watch recorded video or images on TV. Here is a comparison of two of the more popular models, the CECT A988 and the D2000. Both phones have total smartphone capabilities like browsing the web, email, texting, full MP3/MP4 capabilities, Bluetooth, and built in web cams and digital cameras.
The CECT A988 is based on iPhone technology, but it does not look exactly like the iPhone. It is entirely silver with a small scroll bar / keyboard on the bottom of the phone and a stylus. It has a 3.2 inch touchscreen. The A988 is a quad band, but is best known for it’s 3D surround sound stereo system and it’s “TV out” feature. That means that the phone plugs into your TV monitor so that you can view any photos, internet or video on the big screen. Generally, the A988 costs around $130.
The D2000 has all of the bells on whistles of iPhone technology, but it too is completely silver with a large, fully functional keyboard on the bottom of the phone and it has a 2.6 inch touchscreen. The D2000 allows you to watch your favorite TV shows in real time with the pull out built-in antenna. The reception on the phone / TV is really good and the picture is clear and sharp. The D2000 is just slightly cheaper than the CECT A988, averaging at about $120. It’s also very popular with texters because of the full keyboard.
